Learner & Student Opportunities

Job Shadowing Opportunities

Are you interested in a healthcare career and want to learn more about a particular field? If so, Rush Memorial Hospital job shadowing opportunities are available to explore both clinical and non-clinical fields so that you can gain insights in finding your healthcare career path. Job shadowing time is available in 4-hour and 8-hour pre-scheduled experiences.

Observation Hours for Admittance into Program

Observation hours are available for learners at any educational level who need hours to gain acceptance into a healthcare program or provide experiential learning. The maximum amount of time allotted is up to the department and preceptor providing the observation experience.

Clinical Learner Experiences that Count for Educational Credits

Medical Students, Advanced Practice Providers, Nursing and other Clinical Students or observation experiences that count for course completion requirements

Rush Memorial Hospital offers clinical rotation, education and credit baring observation experiences to medical students, Advanced Practice Provider, nursing and other clinical programs. All rotation requests are coordinated through Training and Development within the Human Resources Department. Training and Development will identify available preceptors for educational experience requests. Students should not contact Rush Memorial Hospital providers directly for educational experiences.

Being a CMA/RMA student at RMH WIC was an absolute pleasure. The entire staff was extremely helpful, and taught me so much during my rotation. Jamie Smith was my preceptor and I am so thankful for her patience and dedication to helping me learn. Dakota was also very an amazing teacher, and was super helpful and flexible with my school schedule. Everyone made me feel welcome, and that’s when I knew that I would love to work with the team at WIC, along with everyone else at RMH.

Non-Clinical Learner Experiences that Count for Educational Credits:

Rush Memorial Hospital offers non-clinical rotation, education and credit baring observation experiences to students in non-clinical programs such as social work, health information, administration and others. All non-clinical education requests are coordinated through Training and Development within the Human Resources Department. Training and Development will identify available opportunities and preceptors for these experiences.
